Just before shelter in place was mandated, as we were clearing our basement at home, my grand-mom asked me to get some of her antique rugs from Fort Lauderdale washed and cleaned. Geez, where am I going to find someone to do that, especially since they were quite long and large and there were three of them! Thanks to a Yelp search, I found Oriental rug Care and made a call. The owner, Bill I believe, offered to pick up the large rugs and give me an estimate for the work with the week. Then, all the lights went out... yes Covid. With priorities now changed as well as the shutdown of all non-essential businesses, I knew better than to call him to get an update. In early June, I called him to check on what their business scenario was as things started to open up again. He told me that their East Bay facilities just opened and that he would be calling me within a week or two to confirm the cost and deliver our cleaned rugs. Given the situation, I didn't want to pain him by bargaining on pricing or shopping around, trusting that he would be reasonable. True to his word, he called me about ten days later and we coordinated the delivery back to me. Door to door. I prepared a check for him but misunderstood the cost so I sent him a check for the pending balance on my invoice. Joy and his team in getting all of this relatively pain and stress free. Don't need to ask who I will call when we work on some other rug at home.
